Following a policing background, Tim completed his articles in a well respected Subiaco based Criminal, Family and General Commercial law firm. Tim was primarily involved in Criminal, Commercial and Litigation work at this practice.

Tim was then admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in Western Australia in July 2002, and thereafter to the High Court of Australia in the same month. 

Tim subsequently moved to a medium tiered City based Litigation, Commercial, and Family Law practice. Tim's role involved supervising the Criminal section, conducting Litigation and undertaking Commercial work. He also looked after the Commercial Property section when the partner was on leave. During this period Tim acted as lead Counsel during one of the inquiries conducted by the Royal Commission into policing in 2003.

Tim later travelled to the United Kingdom, where he became admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales and was employed as in-house Counsel for, firstly, the Sussex Police and, secondly, the Metropolitan Police.

During that time Tim pioneered work on behalf of Sussex Police in the areas of Anti-Social Behaviour Orders, Sexual Offender Orders, and Football Banning Orders, earning himself a Chief Constable's award in 2004. Tim was also requested to present at the Police Lawyers Association conference in 2005 in respect of these topics.

Upon returning to Perth in 2007, Tim was employed at a medium to large full service firm, where he specialised in the areas of Criminal and Commercial Litigation. During this time Tim ran a large litigation matter in the Federal Court of Australia, appeared as Counsel on behalf of Native Title claimants, and conducted Mortgagee actions.

In Mid 2009, Tim took the decision to hang up his own shingle and established Saayman Law Pty Ltd in mid 2009. In addition to dealing with some high profile Criminal matters, Tim also won a Category B decision in the State Administrative Tribunal.

Saayman Law Pty Ltd later merged with a Perth and Sydney based Family Law firm, during which time Tim had the opportunity to further his earlier experience in dealing with Property and Child matters in the Family Court of Western Australia.

Tim enjoys advocacy in all courts and has conducted more than 100 trials across the Magistrates Courts in Western Australia and England and Wales, and the District and Supreme Court of Western Australia. These include appearing as Counsel in respect of Murder and Rape cases.

Timothy has maintained a high win to loss ratio in respect of his matters and prides himself on the high standards he has achieved to date.

Julian was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in Western Australia in 2011, after graduating from Murdoch University with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce (Finance).

Julian joined the team at Saayman Law Pty Ltd in March 2011, to assist Tim with a high profile murder case. From then until early 2015, Julian covered a broad range of work on behalf of the firm and had conduct of a range of civil and property matters. 

Julian has experience in civil and commercial litigation, property law, criminal law, amicable property separations within the family court, and wills and estate planning. 

In addition to his work as a lawyer, Julian serves as a Pastor at Perth Christian Life Centre, and is an ordained minister within the Australian Christian Churches in Western Australia.

Julian’s leadership experience is a welcome addition to the firm.

Jarrad studied law at Murdoch University whils pursuing a successful professional basketball career.  Among Jarrad’s many basketball achievements is an NBL championship from his time with the Perth Wildcats.

His work with at risk Indigenous youth and in rural communities in Western Australia earned him a youth award in 2013.

Jarrad was a founding staff member of Perth Law (formerly Saayman & Prior, Barristers & Solicitors), before taking 6 months away from the practice to complete a contract with the Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS). During his time with ALS, Jarrad frequently appeared in the courts of summary jurisdiction, including in the Childrens Court, on a range of matters. He has now brought that experience back to our firm.

Jarrad has a passion for criminal law and has been involved in trials in the Supreme, District and Magistrates Courts in Western Australia.
